Philadelphia Swank

from 8.99

Christopher Grosso, winner of the inaugural chapbook contest, delivers with stereotypical grit and witticism of a Philadelphia native. A confessional of the mundane and bouts of the spiritual, this chapbook is all that "swank" is not.

Limited. ed.: Chapbook printed on 60# photo gloss and wrapped in 220 grit 3M sandpaper. SOLD OUT

Christopher Grosso’s Philadelphia is a city that gets into your bones. A constellation of themes, from relationships, to dreams, to self doubt, lives on the cold grey street corners and up littered back alleys. In Philadelphia Swank, Grosso reminds us that Philly is more than a geographic location, it is a birthright. The end isn’t near / because it has been here all along / on the dotted line where your mom / signed your name at birth. This is a blue-collar poetry from a working-class city whose roots run deep beneath its concrete surface.
