Part magic, part real life, these stories feature unruly characters and the bodies they live in. Girls have third legs, a grieving couple gets a mail order ghost to haunt their house, a woman participates in a self-defense simulation, and more. CALL MY BODY A CAUTIONARY TALE weaves together eighteen urgent, darkly humorous stories in which characters attempt to have agency over their bodies, choices, and futures in an uncertain, often unsafe world. Stories in this book have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and featured in Best Small Fictions, and according to Kathy Fish (Wild Life: Collective Works), “while reminiscent of the work of Carmen Maria Machado, this collection comes to us from a writer of inimitable voice and vision.”
2026 Chapbook Project: Fall Cohort
The beginning of our newly instated Chapbook Corp is going monochrome. 4 authors (2 of whom are debutants in their respective genres) published at the same time for one massive chapbook cohort. Original artwork was hand-selected by our editor-in-chief for both the Fall and Spring cohorts. This project is what 10 years of chapbook publishing looks like. This is Thirty West.
