Julie, or Sylvia

Sale Price: $9.99 Original Price: $14.99

When a woman awakens in a London asylum, she isn’t sure whether she is dead or alive, how she got there, and what is real. Time is kept by seasons, not hours or minutes. Strange characters—including an exorcist, a sadistic doctor, and multiple spirits—visit her bedside. As she tries to convince those around her that she is the deceased poet Sylvia Plath, her condition further deteriorates and she begins to plot her escape. Julie, or Sylvia is a genre-bending collaborative work blending horror, poetry, and literary fiction, with a surreal frame story of bizarre extremes. Written by Nicole Tallman, Beryl Cooper, and Ibrahim Sofiyullaha.

His work has been published in numerous literary publications and is the author of Through the Aisle of My Fantasy. In his personal life, Ibrahim is a devoted man who enjoys spending time with his family and traveling to new and exciting places.

Beryl Cooper is the obvious pseudonym (or heteronym, depending on mood) of a person not nearly notable enough to require such obfuscation. Beryl is a joke, a pun, a sort of homophonic stutter. Beryl is oriented toward depersonalization and de-subjectivization, a disembodiment or becoming a ghost. Maybe. In other words, Beryl is (not).
